A New Season is Coming

“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.”
— James 5:7

A new season is fast approaching and with it, we are eagerly anticipating what God has in store. Fall is my favorite time of year for many reasons, even beyond pumpkin spice lattes. This is the season where we get to travel around and watch our kids play sports, do our outside chores without breaking a sweat, and land on how to decorate the front porch for the holidays.

The longer we’ve been at the new place, the more settled we feel, and I know experiencing the next few months together on the farm will bring back so many fond memories of why we live this way.

The hardest part of having land and animals comes during the long spring and summer months, when the chores multiply and the heat and humidity make every task feel heavier. It’s no wonder we’ve all grown to cherish the harvest season over the years, a quieter, more intentional time. The days shorten as the sun gently reminds us to head indoors a little bit earlier, and the leaves begin their slow descent.

Seasonal endings are just doorways to another new beginning. As we approach these next few weeks leading up to walk on through, we’re preparing our hearts for what’s inside.
