A few nights ago, after dropping my son off at basketball practice, I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood where the gym is located. With some time to spare while he practiced, it felt like a good chance to get in some exercise during the wait.
While I was on my walk, I took this picture as I went over a bridge because it reminded me of a passage I love and quote often.
“Does wisdom not call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud”
When I took the picture, I knew I’d share it here after some thoughtful reflection with what I heard.
Here are some takeaways thus far:
The old way of travel may not be the best route going forward.
Reaching a higher altitude gives you better clarity and a much wider/longer view.
It may still be noisy at the top of a high hill, but the visual sometimes speaks loud and clear.
There is truly a place where paths collide and new doors open. Maybe you’re nearing another fork in the road along life’s journey, and uncertainty or curiosity is stirring. Here’s your sign to pause, breathe, and thoughtfully consider the path that lies ahead.
Something God has shown me over the years is that if He says no in this season, it’s for the best. During the resting and waiting for the new path to emerge is where He does the deepest work. Chris Rensema’s song titled,”Let the Ground Rest” beautifully articulates what this season feels like.
Beauty is always ahead.
Always. Always. Always.
