From my heart to yours
Every once in a while, God gives me words to write and when He does—they end up here.
What the river had to say
Weeks ago my favorite farm guy and I sat down and looked at our fall calendar to see when would be the best time to fit in a little getaway for just he and I. For many years, both in the spring and in the fall, our weekends are spent on the road or a sideline watching one of our kids play a sport they love.
This past weekend was one with no scheduled games so we quickly booked a stay in a small cabin up North in the woods.
Within an hour of getting there, we were wearing slippers, stoking a cozy fire, and filling the cabin with our shared hopes and dreams.
We’ve learned over the years that pitstops during the busy months have a way of fanning our long-term dreams.
Since we moved to the new farm we’ve been feeling the nudge to launch something together. We’ve known it would be farm and family realted, but we haven’t had all of the other pieces.
This past weekend we sensed a green light to start moving in a more public fashion with what’s been brewing.
Last month we hosted a small gathering at our home with several young couples we know and love, most of them having brand new babies.
My favorite farm guy had been sending the guys short little videos of projects he’s been working on around the farm for several months, which is so not his personality at all. He’s a very private person, but God is doing something new in his heart and I’ve loved watching it come to life. He’s personally never been on social media and plans never to be, I’m sure.
We went hiking while we were in Luzerne and found ourselves standing on a bridge overlooking the East branch of Big Creek. Reflecting on the sounds the river was making from flowing so freely downstream, the Lord began to speak to us.
“The words of the mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.”
Him being 51 and me almost 50 years old now, we’ve experienced so many different facets of life. One thing we know for sure, we have a father and mother heart to encourage the next genearation as best we can.
In spite of all the mistakes we’ve made (which are sure to continue until our dying day), we’ve picked up a lesson or two and we hope we can pass that on the best we can.
We put a little video together before we jumped in the car and headed home. Our next one will come to you from our front porch. <3
