From my heart to yours

Every once in a while, God gives me words to write and when He does—they end up here.

Stewarding His Goodness

I met Travis just after my 40th birthday. I have no doubt the Good Lord was orchastrating our evental connection with great expectation. His ways and timing are always better than ours. The years prior to us meeting had been marked with pain and confusion for both of us leaving no other option than to rebuild from ground up.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways... For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways.”
— Isaiah 55:8-9

It’s not easy to start over when you’re approaching mid-life, but it can be done. Not only can it be done, but it’s also actually a perfect time to reevaluate who you are and where you are heading.

Soon after meeting him, I knew one thing for certain, I wanted to go wherever he was going because he had such confidence in how to put a plan together.

Not only did I like how he looked in a plain white T-shirt, but I was ridiculously inspired by his drive and work ethic.

Even though I felt that strongly about him almost a decade ago, I couldn’t fully imagine the life we’re living today. Yes—I was a dreamer and I still am, but honestly, I couldn’t really see what I now know Travis could. Although I could speak it, and I had faith to believe for it, I don’t always see the complete blueprints for things like my favorite farm guy does.

After our third date while out on a hike, I asked him a question. I had put a list together during my journey of singleness and I wasn’t even in the least bit tempted to entertain a relationshipagain unless I had a plan and was committed to sticking to it.

—Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

His response was what initially captured my heart. We spent the next few hours talking about his 15-year plan. And…. I was SMITTEN! That night I went home and couldn’t fall asleep because I knew God was up to something grand.

During my time with the Lord the next morning, He whispered some sweet words to my heart and gave me complete confidence that Travis was indeed a gift straight from Him.

But God.

I turned 49 years old this week and one of my boys asked me what I was dreaming for as I move toward my 50s.

I pulled out my prayer journal, and I showed him all the pictures I’ve pasted together for visuals of things I/we yet want to build.

The best part of all of this is that God sent me a master building partner and I’m forever grateful.
