From my heart to yours
Every once in a while, God gives me words to write and when He does—they end up here.
Forever Young
As I flipped to see what my daily devotional on the desk at work had for me this morning, I had to smile. The words written on it were timely and so fitting for this season of life.
The older I get, the less energy I have to worry about trivial things and yet, I still often do. I’m not sure why that is. Pretty sure it’s tied to me being female. :/
Women are blessed with some unique abilities in life, and high functioning multitasking is one of them.
In our younger years, we’re able to navigate crying babies, managing households, maintaining friendships and social lives, a demanding career—all on 6 hours of sleep—and we make it look easy while doing so.
I’m learning that that kind of energy doesn’t last forever which is why it’s so important to evaluate what I give mine to nowadays.
I have so many things I want to experience on the road ahead, all of which, include growing older with grace. I tell my kids often that “I want to be the sweetest old lady someday” and I mean it.
How do you become a sweet old lady?
I wonder if it’s by figuring out how to let little things go one-after-another.
My favorite farm guy and I went to a wedding last weekend where most of the guest in attendance were around our age, which is pretty uncommon for weddings. As we looked around the room, we felt our age, but there was a youthfulness for us within the night. Celebrating love gives that to you, doesn’t it.
““Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” James 4:14 ESV”
As the timeless music played, I felt young and in-love and I didn’t want the evening to end. The good news is that it doesn’t have to.
I think the key is knowing that life is a gift with limited time and energy. That way you do your best to figure out how to capture the beautiful resources they are so that you can spend as many of your future days on things that matter most to you.
